Every so often, someone tells me that “blogging is dead.”
They’ll say no one has time to read anymore, that everything’s on social media now, or that people don’t want to read about someone else’s travels.
And honestly? I get where they’re coming from. The old version of blogging was like that — a digital diary, filled with personal updates, long stories, and too many details about someone else’s trip. But that’s not what Panoramic Pathways is.
We’re Not Here to Tell Our Story — We’re Here to Help You Plan Yours

When my husband and I started Panoramic Pathways, our goal wasn’t to write about every meal we ate or every photo we took on vacation. Our goal was to share useful, experience-based travel guidance — the kind of practical information we wish we’d had when planning our own trips.
After more than four decades of travel — across the U.S., Canada, and Europe — we’ve learned how to:

- Fit multiple national parks into a single, smooth itinerary.
- Find the best local stays without breaking the budget.
- Navigate permits, timed entries, and reservation systems that can make or break a trip.
- Discover trails, scenic drives, and hidden corners that travelers often overlook.
That’s the value of what we publish. Not a diary. A resource.
Why Long-Form Still Matters in a Short-Attention World
It’s easy to think that social media or AI-generated summaries have replaced blogs. But when you’re actually trying to plan a trip — not just dream about one — you need depth.
You need to know whether you’ll need a car in Évora.
You need to know how to get a Half Dome permit before you drive across the country.
You need to know whether a trail really is beginner-friendly or if it’s a lung-burner in disguise.
That’s where long-form travel writing shines. It gives travelers the context, nuance, and honesty that short clips and quick tips just can’t deliver.
Authenticity Is the New Currency
We’ve spent decades exploring — from budget-friendly road trips to international adventures — and we still travel with the same curiosity we had when we started. What we share comes from real experience, not paid placements or random AI rewrites.
Every photo is ours. Every tip has been tested. Every itinerary was built from the ground up by two people who love exploring and want to help others do the same.

So No, Blogging Isn’t Dead — It’s Evolving
Travel blogging isn’t about showing off anymore. It’s about serving travelers — helping people make their trips smoother, more memorable, and more meaningful.
If we can save someone an hour of frustration while planning a national park trip, or inspire a first-time traveler to finally visit Europe, then Panoramic Pathways is doing exactly what it was meant to do.
